Being a hub of group cities of the Yangtze River
Delta, Xiucheng enjoys exclusive advantages in geographical position
and transportation. Within 1 hour's drive distance, there are
4 international airports, 3 international harbors nearby.
Expressways: Shanghai to Hangzhou Expressway and Zhapu to Jiaxing
to Suzhou Expressway. In addition, the crossing-sea automobile
bridge over Hangzhou Bay is under construction and another two
new expressways running from Jiaxing to Shaoxing and from Zhapu
to Huzhou(via Jiaxing) have been taken into consideration by the
State.
Railway transportation: Jiaxing Railway Station is the only key
station among those along the Shanghai-Hangzhou Railroad. All
the passenger and freight trains stop here. Besides, light track
between Shanghai-Hangzhou and the rail of Zhapu-Jiaxing-Suzhou
are under planning.
International airports-Shanghai Hongqiao Airport (90 km); Shanghai
Pudong Airport (120 km); Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport (90 km); Ningbo
Airport (120 km after the crossing-sea bridge over Hangzhou Bay
completed).
International habors---Zhapu Port (40 km); Shanghai Port (100
km); Ningbo Beilun Port (140 km after the crossing-sea bridge
over Hangzhou Bay completed).
Inland water transportation: The great artificial canal, which
runs from Beijing to Hangzhou ( called Jinghang Grand Canal),
together with many other inland rivers has formed a crisscross
network linking Xiucheng with Beijin¡¢Tianjin¡¢Shanghai¡¢Suzhou
and Hangzhou. The inland river network is capable to handle ships
up to 300 to 500 tons all the year round.
